Gold Price Methodology
This page explains how to read gold price estimates, from USD per ounce to SGD per gram and purity.
Formula and labels
How the calculation works
The base calculation converts the USD per troy ounce gold price into SGD per gram:SGD per gram = (USD per oz x USD/SGD) / 31.1034768. After that, purity values such as 916 or 999 are multiplied by their purity factor.
What is not included
This estimate does not include buy/sell spread, premiums, jewellery making charges, refining costs, possible taxes, platform charges, or shop-specific decisions.
Estimate limits
Prices are shown as indicative estimates. They help with an initial calculation, but actual transaction prices still need to be confirmed with the relevant shop, platform, or adviser.
Price records and freshness
Price records show recent changes and keep old numbers from looking like current prices. If a price is not fresh enough, the indicative label remains so readers do not mistake it for a live quote.
Review rules
- Prices are not presented as shop quotes or guaranteed real-time prices.
- Market summaries must not invent gold prices, exchange rates, or tax conclusions.
- Every page should help readers understand gold prices, purity, transaction costs, or decision limits.

Unit and currency converter rules
- Gram, troy ounce, kilogram, and tola are mathematically converted from equivalent gram weight.
- Non-SGD currencies are reference bridges, not quotes from banks, brokers, or gold shops.
- Purities such as 9999, 999, 916, 750, and 585 use fixed multipliers so calculators and tables do not conflict.
